In the Garden – A Small Stone for Mindful Writing Day

Silvereye twitches along the stem of flax, facing first skywards, then to the earth, as if there was no up, no down. A rough and tumble of house sparrow cascades from the bushes, scattering noise across the grass of the lawn. A leaf of lemon balm masquerades as shaven apple mint until light movements of the wind liberates the scent of citrus from a breaking petiole.
