Figs

The Moreton Bay fig has been dropping its fruit onto the picnic table, leaving a scattering of small brown husks and a spray of golden seeds in a smear of maroon flesh. As another one drops, the noise from the mynahs in the branches intensifies in a crescendo of excitement. I begin to suspect the loss of figs from the tree may not be without their interference.
