The Surface of the Sea

There is a trail of calm water behind the two figures walking out to sea. Unlike the surrounding ocean, the water does not sparkle, but reflects the sun with the smoothness of olive oil. Waves gently collapse into inch high breakers, rolling out the last few yards of their lives onto the scintillating grains that make up the shore.
